Moroka Swallows midfield kingpin Jabu Mendu will be hoping for his first international cap against England in Durban on Thursday, after being called into stand-in coach Jomo Sono's squad for the game.
Mendu has been rewarded for a superb season with the Beautiful Birds, in which he has helped lift the side to second in the Premier Soccer League with some sterling performances.
And the 26-year-old former Jomo Cosmos star has every chance of being chosen in a midfield that should contain overseas stars Quinton Fortune, Macbeth Sibiya and Delron Buckley.
Sono will know Mendu well from his with the Esenkhozi and may well be tempted to give the gifted midfielder a run.
"S-Curl", as he is known by Swallows fans, has featured in 23 of Swallows' matches this season in the PSL, scoring just once in the 2-1 victory over Orlando Pirates in February.
Mendu will get the chance to replace the unlucky teammate Lucas Sebona in the Bafana squad, the midfielder having been dropped for the England games after featuring in all of the recent Shakes Mashaba squads.
