Awards Night For Swallows 21/05/03
The Moroka Swallows squad held their annual end of season party at News Café in Johannesburg, with Bafana Bafana star Lucas Sebona picking up two awards for his outstanding contribution to the Beautiful Birds season.

The night was a grand occasion for all and was a fitting tribute to the players, who have all worked extremely hard this season in helping the club progress under coach Gavin Hunt, who is in his first season at Swallows.

Sebona won the awards for Top Goalscorer and Players' Player of the Year for the 2002/03 season. Apart from two magnificent trophies, the midfielder also collected a prize of a holiday away with his wife worth R20000.

Sebona has found the net on 10 occasions in 17 starts in the league and has also received call-ups to the Bafana Bafana squad under coach Shakes Mashaba.

Nigerian goalkeeper Greg Etafia won Young Player of the Year for his efforts in the campaign. The 20-year-old's contribution has gone a long way to helping Swallows up to their current second-place in the Premier Soccer League.

The Most Disciplined Player of the Year award went to Papi Mbhele, who has been a model professional for the club this season.

Finally, the Achievement of the Year award went to Team Manager Bennet Mtshali, whose tireless work with the squad and energy he puts into helping the players knows no bounds.

Does Sebona deserve the Player of the Year award? with your views.....
