Player Column - Peter Rabolele 02/07/03
The Moroka Swallows players are currently in training after the off-season and midfielder Peter Rabolele is delighted to be back. He is the latest player to offer insight into the happenings at the club as he continues our series of Player Columns on Morokaswallows.co.za.

I must say I really am looking forward to an exciting season ahead with the Beautiful Birds. After the disappointment of slipping from second to fourth in the final match of the last campaign, we know we can do better this time round and will be challenging for the Premier Soccer League title.

Good news for Swallows fans out there is that the squad is very hard at work preparing themselves for the next campaign. Our coach, Gavin Hunt, has been putting us through our paces since we returned from the off season on June 26.

Personally I am feeling strong, so far the training has been tough, the management has been working us very hard and when I get home all I want to do is sleep!

But things are going well. The guys are looking motivated. Although we are still not 100% sure of the make-up of the squad as there are a number of new players currently on trial with us, as well as others who are still to arrive.

The off-season break was quite short but that being said, I am raring to get back into action for his team. Last season I did not feature nearly as much as I would like to have. This time round I want to play much more regularly and I intend to stamp my authority on the team this season.

I would also like this to be the season that I push for a place in the Bafana Bafana side, like my idol John Moeti. I have been in the squad before, but not actually earned a cap. My first priority is to establish myself as a first-choice in the Swallows team but I hope that by playing well I will be noticed by the national selectors- it is up to them to decide whether to include me in the side.

With the likes of MacBeth Sibaya and Teboho Moekena both not really making the position of the "destroyer" their own in the national set-up, I feel I am in with a good chance of playing for my country .

Thanks again for all the wonderful support and I hope to see you cheering us on in the SAA Super Eight match against Golden Arrows on August 16!
