Chiefs Set To Head Off East 08/07/03
Kaizer Chiefs will leave on Thursday to take part in the World Peace King Cup in Korea.

Kaizer Chiefs will leave on Thursday to take part in the World Peace King Cup in Korea.

The Chiefs management will be able to use this trip as a good indication of how the squad (and the new signings) are shaping up - as competition features some of the top clubs in world football.

These include Italian Serie A side A.S. Roma, Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, Olympique Lyonnais of France, German side Bayer 04 Lever Kusen and Brazilian club Sao Paulo, as well as  U.S. club Los Angeles Galaxy and K-League side Seongnam Ilhwa.

Due to the long nature of the flight, the Chiefs squad will only arrive in Korea on Saturday morning.

There won't be much time for the players to rest before engaging in an afternoon training session.

Their first match takes place on Monday the 15th when the Amakhosi take on French League champions Lyon (Olympique Lyonnais).

Next on their agenda is local club Seongnam (July 17) before taking on Turkish club Besiktas on July the 19th.

The winners of the tournament will take home $2 million, while the runners-up will earnt $500,000.

The proceeds from the tournament will be used to help third-world children.
