SaSoccer365 reader Shahied Joseph has been hard at work again. This time Shahied has taken time out to speak to Orlando Pirates' Shaun Potgieter, who gives us his views on the up-coming season...
Former Ajax winger and School of Excellence product Shaun Potgieter is raring to play against his former club in the colours of Orlando Pirates.
The 20-year-old is fit after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury and is hungry to turn out for the club he dreamt of playing for as a schoolboy.
I have totally recovered from my injury and have played only 30 minutes for Pirates since joining them in February this year, he said.
I want to prove my worth to the club and fight for my position. Also I would love to return to Newlands and score against Ajax, and I cant wait to play in a Soweto Derby.
He added: I was on the bench when I was at my first Soweto derby. The atmosphere was great and the pressure intense. "
I was happy to be there as I was just over my injury, but not ready to play. We lost 2-0. Im ready now to play against Chiefs, Ajax, whoever! Ive been sidelined for 10 months already.
The left winger is confident to cement his place in the starting 11 for the Bucs, despite Gift Leremi currently occupying his left midfield spot.
Gift Leremi and I get along well. We will be competing for the left midfield position and we remain professional about it.
It is not about who is the best, but who can do the best for the team on match day. He is a good player but Im confident about ousting him as I can use both my legs, Im not limited to my left-boot.
There is no animosity between any players, as you know were a big squad with an abundance of talent. We have to and will do our best for the team, we are the Champions you know!
