Big Issue Team Continue Good Run 11/07/03
The Big Issue soccer team currently taking part in the World Cup Homeless street-soccer tournament in Austria have continued with their good results.

Earlier in the week the team scored impressive wins over Wales (10-1) and Germany (8-1).

On Wednesday the South African's went on to beat Wales 3-0 and then accounted for Germany in a 7-1 victory, before coming unstuck against a very strong Netherlands team.

The results were however good enough to earn the S.A. team second place in their group, meaning that they qualify for the next round.

The final will be played on Saturday.

The Big Issue team is made up of local vendors who all come from the Khayelitsha and Langa areas in Cape Town.

The players representing South Africa are: Meluxolo Taliwe, Mzwakhe Qutu, Nkosinathi Mkhonono, Bongani Mhlawuli, Luyanda Konana, Luvuyo Zahela and  Mzwethemba Tinzi.

The team is coached by James Garner and Luvuyo Zahela, not Edries Burton as earlier reported. The Santos captain has however supported the guys in an advisory role.
