The South African national team to take on Zimbabwe in a Cosafa Castle Cup match at Buffalo Park in East London on the 19th of July has been announced.
The team will be coached by the South African under-23 coach, Kenneth "Continental" Kubheka.
Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba has declined to take charge for this match, saying that he does not want to tarnish his record by going into battle with a largely inexperienced squad.
Apart from the fact that there are no overseas based players in the squad, there are also no Orlando Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs players in the team either, with the exception of Pirates' Lucas Tlhomelang and Bheka Phakath , who are not first choice players at their club.
Khubeka has decided to go for a youthful squad, and has called-up a number of players from his under-23 squad, including : Vuyo Mere, Edward Malinga, Tsietsi Mohoa and Manqoba Ngwenya.
For players such as Tyron Arendse, Benson Mhlongo and Moeneeb Josephs, who have been included in previous Bafana squads but have yet to taste any action, this game will at least afford them the opportunities to earn their first caps.
The squad is as follows:
Moeneeb Josephs (Ajax Cape Town)

Phil Evans (Supersport United)
Themba Mnguni (SuperSport United)
Tsietsi Mahoa (Wits University)
