Moroka Swallows and Sundowns played out to a 2-2 draw in a pre-season friendly at the Rand Stadium on Sunday as the team gears up for their opening match of the season against Golden Arrows in the SAA Super Eight on August 16.
The match proved valuable for Birds coach Gavin Hunt, who saw most of his new charges play a significant role in the game.
The Swallows goals were scored by new-boys Albert Kometsi and George Hummel, who were impressive all match against the Brazilians.
Hunt declared himself more than satisfied with the result and the overall showing of the team.
"The shape and performance of the team are more important than the result in pre-season and I thought both of those were very good," Hunt told Morokaswallows.co.za.
"We created far more chances than them and should have won the game comfortably, but I am very happy with the way we played. The attitude of the players was very good."
Hunt still feels that the squad requires a few extra players ahead of the new season, though no-one is in the sights of management yet.
"We need to strengthen in numbers in certain areas, the injuries to striker Shaun Permall and defender Warren Lewis are not helping our cause. We also haven't replaced Jabu Mendu who left for Kaizer Chiefs, so that is a worry for me," he said.
