Sundowns have taken Mozambican international captain Antonio Trigo on trial this week as they continue to prepare for the new Premier Soccer League season, which begins on August 20.
The midfielder is the latest in a long line of players hoping to impress the Brazilians new coach Luis Oscar Fullone, who is desperate to stamp his authority on the squad after a disappointing campaign last time round.
Initial reports on Trigo have been good, though Sundowns have denied a contract has been laid on the table.
"Like Thabang Lebese, coach Luis Oscar Fullone is watching the players carefully and once he is satisfied that they can deliver what he wants, he will obviously recommend that they be offered contracts," team manager Peter Koutroulis
told the club's official website.
"But right now I cannot speak for the coach nor speculate regarding whether he will sign the players or not. I can confirm that they are training with Sundowns yes, but a final decision regarding their future with the club will be made soon," he added.
It has been a busy close-season for Fullone, who has already signed Ivorian trio Ouwatara Adamar, 'Chico' Tiene and Franck Cuele, as well as striker Sandile Ndlovu.
