The South African national Under-23's played out to a 0-0 draw with the senior Mauritius national team at the Huntersfield Stadium in Katlehong last night.
On a cold winter's night, the players struggled to really get going as the first half passed by fairly uneventfully, although the tempo was lifted appreciably in the second period.
Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Thabiso 'Skapie' Malatsi, who is now on-loan at Premier Soccer League new-boys Zulu Royals, came to life in the second stanza and impressed the crowd with his skill, but unfortunately he was not able to produce the final product.
Gert Schalkwyk, the young Wits midfielder who recently made his surprise Bafana Bafana debut against Zimbabwe, was introduced into the game in the second half.
He immediately made a difference with his accurate passes to the front men, but no-one was able to capitalise on his service.
Kaizer Motaung junior, who has just returned from a stint in Germany, also played in the match, although he was substituted just after the hour mark.
The match forms part of Amaglug-glug's preparations for the Olympic Games in Athens next year.
