Stadium To Be Renamed After Manyathela 14/08/03

The Skoonplaas Stadium in Musina is to be renamed in honour of the late Lesley Manyathela, who died in a car crash last weekend.

This was confirmed by the Musina mayor, David Phologa, who said that an official announcement would be made at the former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana striker's funeral on Saturday.

The Skoonplaas Stadium has a 6000 capacity and will become officially known as Lesley Manyathela Soccer Stadium.

"We feel honoured to rename the stadium after Lesley Manyathela. Lesley was a true role model to all the youngsters in Musina and they are eager to emulate his success. He has left a legacy," Phogola told the Sowetan.

Manyathela grew up with his family in Skoonplaas, before they moved to Nancefield.
