Moroka Swallows will be looking to make up for the disappointment of their SAA Supa 8 defeat at the hands of Jomo Cosmos when they meet Manning Rangers at the Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday evening (match kicks off at 8.00pm).
The Birds were hoping to win their first silverware in 11 years, but although they gave their all they had to settle for the runners up position after an extra time penalty by Lovers Mohlala ended their dreams.
Gavin Hunt's men will be looking to bounce back with a win to make sure their league aspirations stay on track.
The Birds are in a good position on the Castle Premiership log as they are currently lying in fifth place and have a number of games in hand on the teams above them.
Rangers will certainly provide a stern test as they themselves are only one place back in sixth position and have a game in hand on Swallows and two games in hand on some of the teams higher up in the league.
The Durban outfit are looking an altogether different prospect after their poor showing last season, mainly due to the wholesale clear out of players deemed unnecessary to requirements, as well as a number of astute signings such as midfielders Welcome Mazibuko from African Wanderers, Patrick 'Ace' Mbuthu from Kaizer Chiefs and striker Lebogang Kukame from Cosmos.
Newly signed goalkeeper Chad Harpur, who was brought in from English First Division side Millwall has added stability to the Maulers defence.
Striker Alton Meiring also seems to have re-discovered his scoring touch and the Bird's defence will need to be on top form to keep out his threat, especially as the former Cape Town Spurs and Sundowns player scored a brace in the corresponding fixture last season.
Birds striker Kerryn Jordan seems to be getting back to his best form and will be very intent on scoring against his former club, especially after spending a portion of last season warming the bench at the Durban club.
Fellow marksman Shaun Permall will also be available for selection after having to sit out of the SAA Supa 8 Cup after receiving a red card in his comeback from injury game against SuperSport United.
Rangers: Harpur, Molapo, Ratsoana, Bobbs, Nduti, Mazibuko, Noge, Mbuthu, Kukame, Isaks, Meiring

Swallows: Kerryn Jordan spent a rather frustrating last season with the Maulers and will now be out to show his former employers what a mistake they made in letting him go.
