Two of South Africa's giants will go head-to-head on Sunday in what promises to be clash of the titans in a Castle Premiership game.
Sundowns will entertain Moroka Swallows on Sunday afternoon for three points that both teams will be in search of at the Odi Stadium in Pretoria.
The historic rivalry between these teams date back to the 1970's so there is more than just three points at stake but also the pride of Dube and Mamelodi residents.
The Brazilians have the services of highly rated Khabo Zondo and the Pretoria team beat Zulu Royals 2-0 but then lost to 2-1 to defending league champions Orlando Pirates.
Zondo's dual responsibility with coach Luis Fullone has not been accepted by the club's loyal supporters but it remains to be seen if they can become a winning combination.
Swallows also lost to the Bucs 1-0 but then bounced back against Black Leopards where they ran out 3-1 winners at the Rand Stadium in earlier Castle Premiership games this season.
Last season the Dube Birds lost 1-0 in their first round game away to Downs but bounced back in the second stanza of the league when they were challenging for league honours and beat the Brazilians 2-0.
Edzai Kasinauyo and Kerryn Jordan scored for the Beautiful Birds and have been in fine form for their club this season.
Andre Arendse, Godfrey Sapula and Clement Mazibuko have been called up for National duty but their performance on club level has not lifted their position in the league to the desired heights in the premiership.
Probable line ups:
Sundowns: Arendse, Manzini, Chalwe, Jordaan, Mthembu, Mazibuko, Sapula, Ndzuzo, Shai, Ngwenya, Kilambe
Swallows: Etafia, Petersen, Mcnab, Hummel, Christian, Sebona, Rabolele, Ngobeni, Kasinauyo, Kometsi, Lota
Players To Watch:
Sundowns: The former Jomo Cosmos and Orlando Pirates midfielder Godfrey Sapula seems to be enjoying his role as a creator for his strikers. The team can certainly take inspiration from the hard-working dread-locked play maker.
Swallows: Albert Kometsi has shown touches of class but is yet to stamp his authority in a game against the so-called bigger teams. Kometsi is a wonderful young talent and coach Gavin Hunt has the confidence to select this former Hellenic player.
