Moroka Swallows fought off Sundowns to clinch a 2-1 victory at the Odi Stadium and Captain Gary McNab is happy with the result and especially the fans that came to Pretoria.
"It was a good win for us and the three points are vital at this stage as we near the second half of the season," McNab told the official Swallows web site.
"It's always great beating a big team like Sundowns and at the Odi too, we're all happy with the game."
"Dennis Lota and Warren Lewis finished the two chances we had really well and this gave us the victory. We tried to create more chances but Downs were coming at us hard especially after the first goal."
"After George Hummel went off with an injury to his hamstring we struggled a bit defensively and they capitalised on our temporary weakness." a content McNab said.
"But credit to the players for holding on to a win away from home and it was just great getting the three points the coach asked for."
The Birds coach Gavin Hunt has offered his team good rewards if they win their next five games so that they stay in contention for the Castle Premiership title.
"The coach told us to get 15 points in our next five games and we're on our way to achieving that. The leaders, Kaizer Chiefs, are only three points ahead of us and we can't allow for that gap to increase."
"If we keep clear of suspensions and minimise injuries then this squad definitely has what it takes to get to the top and win the league."
"Most importantly I want to say a huge thank you to the supporters who came to the Odi Stadium yesterday. It is a far way out an the players really appreciate it, in fact we want to see more of our supporters at the stadiums because then we know where to turn to when we celebrate."
"We want our supporters there and I want them to know their presence means the world to us."
Swallows are joint on sixth place with Wits University but technically they are fourth with Wits if the goal difference is not regarded.
