Birds knock Hellenic out of cup 29/02/04
Moroka Swallows showed no mercy to Hellenic in the Absa Cup first round by beating them 2-0 in a match played at Pam Brink Stadium on Sunday.

The Beautiful Birds just scored both their goals in the first half in a match that was action packed action from the first minute of kick off.

Shaun Permall could have put his name on the score sheet for Swallows in the second minute of the match but he somehow managed to miss when it appeared easier to score.

The pressure of the visitors was too much for rookie Hellenic player, Ronald Kelly who handled the ball in his own penalty area to give away a penalty.

Gary McNab made no mistake from the spot to put the Birds ahead in the 20th minute.

Seven minutes after that goal, the hard running Mark McVeigh found the back of the net when he capitalized on an error by the Hellenic goalkeeper.

After the half time, Swallows continued to dominate their opponents but were guilty of missing many goal scoring opportunities but by that stage they had already done enough to go through to the last 16.
