Jordan headed for greener pastures 14/07/04
Moroka Swallows striker Keryn Jordan will no longer be turning out in South Africa's Premier Soccer League (PSL) as he is headed off for New Zealand, after signing a three year contract with New Zealand's Football Kingz.

Jordan will not be joining the Kingz immediately, he will first be joining up for pre-season training with Waitikiri United, which is a team based in West Auckland and owned by the Kingz technical sponsor Lotto, before moving to the Kingz.

The Kingz will be campaigning in the Australian league, which has recently been trimmed down to eight teams in order to improve the quality of the league.

"I signed the contract yesterday," said an excited Jordan, "I will be moving there with my wife and son and look forward to the challenge."

The 28-year-old player, who was on loan at Manning Rangers for most of last season and finished third in all competitions with 14 goals, admits that he will miss sunny South Africa.

"For sure, I will miss South Africa. Everybody knows what a magnificent country this is. I will certainly miss the colorful, loud and vibrant fans of South African football."

"One thing I won't miss is the tough-tackling Cosmos team, and in particular Andrew 'Jaws of Life', Rabutla," Jordan said, half-jokingly.

"It seemed like Jomo Sono had it in for me - maybe it is because I always score against them!" said Jordan, who earned one cap for Bafana Bafana.

The deal came about after the Pretoria-born player's came about after his agent, Steve Kapdluschnik, was contacted by former Hellenic and Black Leopards official Guy Hedderwick, who is now a director with the Kingz, and was looking to boost his club with the signing of a new striker.

Hedderwick admitted to SASoccer365 that he has not seen a lot of the player, but is confident that he will do a good job Down Under.

"He impressed me as a solid player who is really motivated to do well. He did very well for Manning Rangers under difficult circumstances and I believe that he will fit into the set up here," said Hedderwick.

"I think he can do a job for the Kingz as he seems to be a natural goalsorer.

Hedderwick pointed out that the opportunity will present Jordan and his family with  a great lifestyle and also possibly open up further opportunities.

"I guess he is also been offered a new life, New Zealand is a wonderful place to live. He will also have European opportunities as the owner of the Kingz (a South African named Brian Katzen) is also the owner of Swansea City."
