Gavin Hunt says he is pleased with the way his side has started the new Castle Premiership season and feels he has a well balanced squad this season.
The Swallows coach recently returned from abroad where he had undergone a coaching course and returned days before Swallows' 3-1 win over Ajax Cape Town in their SAA Supa 8 tie on Saturday.
"I was pleased with the performance of the team," said Hunt. "We have a strong squad this year and the players on the bench are just as good as the players on the field.
"Players will be fighting for their positions this year."
Swallows have also made several good signings this season, with Mohammed Ouseb and Cecil Oersen just to name a few.
However, although admitting that Ouseb is not match fit yet, the former Black Leopards coach could not stop singing the praises of winger Oersen, following his man-of-the-match performance against Ajax this weekend.
"Mohammed Ouseb was given a run and I was happy with his performance, we still have to work on his fitness which won't be a problem," he said.
"Cecil Oersen was superb and I am extremely pleased that after trying to sign him up for 2 years we finally got it right and he looks like he will prove his weight in gold."
Hunt also expressed his concern surrounding a certain faction of Swallows supporters, who constantly boo the players during matches and the Birds coach revealed he is willing to sit down and talk with the fans guilty of trying to upset his players.
"I am a little concerned at the jibes from various supporters at our games and would seriously like to sit down and discuss this with the supporters," he added. "I have approached our PRO Sipho Xulu to set this up for me.
"We desperately need encouragement from our supporters especially when we go down not a few supporters booing myself and our players."
"To those faithful fans who came out on Saturday, a big thank you and I am looking forward to seeing you at our next fixture, which will be Sundowns away.
