Junior Birds fly the flag high in Secunda 07/03/05
On Sunday, March 6, the U-15, U-17 and U19 teams, along with some supporters, were transported by bus to play in Secunda, against Sasol Juventus.

They arrived at the Sasol Community Recreation Centre just in time for breakfast, where they were met by organizer Sbongile Thabede.

At 10.30 am the first game - the U-15's - kicked off. The Swallows boys met little resistance, taking a 2-0 half-time lead before running away with the game in the second half and finishing up 6-0 winners.

The U-17's took on a senior Juventus side, who took the lead in the first half with a great goal. However, the junior Birds bounced back and scored three times in the second half to record a 3-1 victory.

Next up was lunch, where the boys were treated to a good meal by their hosts.

After this Swallows juniors coaches, 'Japan' and Peter Tressel held a clinic for the local coaches.

The U-19 side took on the Sasol Juventus VodaCom side, and with the tackles flying in and both sides giving as good as they got, the half-time score was goal-less.

In the second half Swallows out-ran, out-played and out-thought their opponents, and deservedly won the match 4-0, playing some brilliant football in the process.

Birds head of development coach, Paul Habib, was ecstatic with the way the day went.

"A great day was had by all, and our boys acquitted themselves very well. A special thanks must go to Sbongile Thabede and Doc Thwala for ensuring that everything ran so well," said Habib.

"One of the main aim of the day was to promote the Swallows brand in Secunda, and I think that we achieved this with our good performances on and off the field."
