Goalkeeper Brian Ngiba is one of the many young stars in the Moroka Swallows under-19 side who has the potential to go on and play the game at the very highest level.
Ngiba was highly impressive during last month's Metropolitan Cup in Cape Town, pulling off a number of quality saves to ensure that Swallows did not concede many goals.
In the opening match against Santos, Ngiba even had the partisan home crowd applauding him as he pulled off a number of spectacular saves.
The Durban-born youngster looked especially impressive against crosses, using his agile frame and seemingly long arms to intercept balls which seemed destined for the heads of opposing strikers.
The ability to deal effectively with crosses is something which many PSL keepers lack and if Ngiba can continue in the vain in which he has, he certainly stands a good chance of making it in the Premiership one day.
One characteristic he did show, which can be interpreted as either a weakness, or a strength, was that he sometimes likes to over-elaborate when on the ball, in a similar fashion to Orlando Pirates goal keeper Francis Chansa.
But at least being with a team like Swallows will enable Ngiba to learn from the very best - Nigerian Greg Etafia is one of the best goal keepers in the PSL and has been in outstanding form recently, while Conrad Hendricks would certainly be first choice at most clubs always does well when called up for first team duty.
