Moroka Swallows creative midfielder Pitso Lekone is very upset at having been red-carded against Santos as he will now have to sit out the team's next match.
The Dube Birds squad is currently being stretched to the limit as injuries and suspensions take their toll on the side.
On Saturday the Soweto side went into the game with at least 10 players out through injury and matters were compounded when Lekone and goal keeper Greg Etafia received their marching orders, leaving the team to play out the remainder of the game with only nine men.
Lekone has never been considered a dirty player and was merely trying to do his best to win the ball back for Swallows when he mis-timed a challenge on a People's Team defender.
"I was just trying to get the ball, but I was a bit late and got the man instead. I apologised to the player, but it was too late" he explained.
With many of the side's stars currently on the injury list, Lekone was looking to cementing his place in Gavin Hunt's side, but is devastated at now having to miss Wednesday night's game against Silver Stars.
"Last season I did not feature regularly in the team and I was hoping to prove myself this season, but now I will miss tomorrow's game and will have to work extra hard at training to get back into the side," said the 25-year-old former Free State Stars player.
Lekone is confident that his club can take all three points from the trip to Polekwane on Wednesday.
"It is always difficult to play away to Silver Stars, but I trust that my team-mates will take all three points - I think that the Stars players may be already thinking about their SAA Supa 8 match against Orlando Pirates."
