Moroka Swallows latest acquisition - former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thapelo Liau was signed by the club late last week and made his first appearance for the team in the SAA Sup 8 Cup.
The midfielder made his debut when he came on as a substitute in Sunday's SAA Supa 8 quarter-final loss to SuperSport United.
"Thapelo is a player with plenty of flair. He is very skilful and is sure to have a positive influence on the players around him. We are happy to have brought him into the squad," said Birds MD Gavin Bernstein.
The 27-year-old started off his career at Bloemfontein Celtic, before moving on to Ria Stars, where he scored an extremely impressive 23 goals in 56 games, before moving on to the Buccaneers.
Another midfielder, former Sundowns player Joseph Mthombeni, is also training with the team and a decision over whether or not he will be signed will be taken shortly.
The team is still battling to get an international clearance for Senegalese striker Mame Niang, but hope to do so shortly.
Having lost to SuperSport on Sunday, Swallows have a great chance to get revenge when they meet the same team at the Germiston Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. (Kick off is at 15H15).
