Birds Hit Back At Mazibuko Rumours 24/08/05
Moroka Swallows have categorically denied that club skipper Goodman Mazibuko could be headed the way of SuperSport United, the club they face in a PSL encounter this afternoon.

This follows a story in a soccer publication which has linked the Dube Birds' inspirational skipper with a move to the Tshwane-based side.

"There are rumours going around in the press that SuperSport are after my services, but there is absolutely no truth in this," Mazibuko stated himself.

"I am very happy at Swallows and have no intention to leave the club - I am the captain and I am afraid that if my team-mates hear this sort of rumour it could kill their spirits," he added.

Club PRO Sipho Xulu was also incensed by the rumours and as hit out at the media for its sometimes irresponsible reporting, which created endless problems for clubs.

"We urge the media to publish information only when they have concrete evidence as this is in the best interest of football in general, not only Moroka Swallows," said Xulu.

"Such rumours can be very damaging to the morale of a team and can destabilize the whole club. This is even more so in Swallows' case because we are playing a match this afternoon and such things can really damage our preparations."
