Moroka Swallows, priding ourselves on being great pioneers, took the initiative of being the first PSL Club to take a future sports leader under our wing.
The PSL, in association with the Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Education and Training Authority (THETA), initiated this brilliant opportunity for those studying a sports-related course to undertake an internship with a Premier Soccer League Club.
Newly graduated students struggle to gain practical experience in their fields which has a negative effect on them being employed as most companies or employers want candidates who have both the qualifications and the necessary experience. It is with this in mind that the PSL and THETA joined hands to allow these students the opportunity to gain this experience.
"I hope that all clubs will follow Moroka Swallows’ example" said PSL CEO, Kjetil Siem, "We need to educate our young people in our soccer administration as we need to build the next generation of soccer leaders.”
Interviews were held at the PSL offices on Thursday the 26th of February 2009 and after screening ten very motivated candidates, a young lady by the name of Ntombizodwa Ntshongwana was selected as the new intern in the Swallows offices.
Zodwa is a Sports management student at the University of Johannesburg currently completing her last year of study. She is a successful sports woman in her own right and has achieved u/19 National colours in Netball. She also has coaching experience dealing with different age groups and has worked at the University's Sports Bureau.
Zodwa was selected as the successful candidate for the Swallows' position not only for her excellent credentials but, also because she has a lovely personality and is a highly motivated and passionate supporter of The Beautiful Game.
We wish her luck in her new undertaking and will support her in every way to ensure we have a successful alliance.
