The 2013/14 season presents us with new challenges and opportunities to rebuild the squad so that we may become more competitive .
The departure of 10 players also gave us an unique window to implement the vision for the future. The objective is to slowly begin the process of reducing the overall age of the players, and to strengthen with players that meet the characteristics that we require.
With this exercise we hope to balance the squad with youth and experience.
I feel that in signing BERENG (24), LEVI (24), MBEKILE (24), NKOSINATHI (26) and MNQELE (28), we will have achieved one of the objectives and not comprised in the meeting of our criteria.
Our preseason camp was held at the prestigious WATERSTONE COLLEGE venue, where the Mexican National team spent their time during the 2010 World Cup.
The 3-week camp allowed us to prepare and focus on the task at hand. The players responded very positively to the sessions and were in good spirits even though this is the most difficult time of the season. Both soccer fields were in perfect condition, which afforded us the opportunity to exercise the type of football that we hope to play this year.
The state-of-the-art gym and indoor arena played an important role in the Team's conditioning programme.
Some tactical adjustments were made to how we are going to compete, with the players embracing the concept.
The start of the 2013/14 season has gone off very well, collective effort and team spirit has been rewarded with a well-earned 7 points out of 9.
Needless to say this has created momentum for the coming games.
We look forward to continuing as we have started.
