Biemba looks ahead...

After finishing the 2006/07 Premiership season in joint-second spot, Moroka Swallows were aiming to lift the league title in 2007/08, but things have not quite gone according to plan.

However, goalkeeper coach Shadrack Biemba is confident the 'Dube Birds' will soar again next season.

"Things have not been going the way we expected, due to a number of reasons," Biemba told "At first it was difficult for the players to adapt to the new coach and his methods, but now things appear to be falling into place.

"We've been conceding too many goals and obviously this has not helped us. The team has also been hit by suspensions, more than we've ever had before, and this has unsettled our defence as there is not enough consistency in the back four."

Despite these upheavals, Swallows are currently in a respectable ninth position on the Absa Premiership standings with four more games to go, and Biemba feels the team has what it takes to finish the season in fourth place.

He continued: "Our initial aim for this season was to challenge for league honours, but things have not gone our way and we are now looking to finish the season in fifth position at least.

"The key is for all the guys to contribute. Goal-scoring has been a bit of a problem as we have been relying heavily on James Chamanga. [But] I'm sure the guys know what is expected of them and will pull through."

However, the coach is upbeat about the 2008/09 season and confident the 'Birds' will do well.

"I am looking forward to next season,"?added Biemba.

"The technical team will be meeting soon to plot the way forward and I'm certain we'll be serious challengers next year," he concluded.
