Paul Habib's 'Junior Birds' Update

Paul Habib, Moroka Swallows' Head of Development, brings us the latest developments in the Beautiful Birds' various junior teams.

Metropolitan Cup:

My boys have done brilliantly to win the Gauteng Metropolitan Cup challenge and we are looking forward to taking part in the national stage of this exciting competition.

I'd like to thank the players, my staff (Andries Mpondo, Khulu John, Kabelo, 'Ace' Mnini), and the whole Swallows family for giving us their full support.

The boys are extremely happy with their performances and are fast becoming men.

The Bayhill Cup:

The squad is also currently preparing for the the Bayhill Cup - to be played in Cape Town from April 12-17. We leave Johannesburg on Tuesday, April 11 and arrive in the 'Mother City' the following day.

The U15's are also preparing to take part in a major tournament in the near future.

The squad will be playing in the SportZone Under-15 tournament, which will take place from Thurday, April 13 until Sunday, April 16.

It is a highly competitive tournament that includes, amongst others, Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Wits University and Silver Stars.

I know that our team will do well in this competition and we are expecting at least a top three finish.

Nike Manchester United Premier Cup:

The SportZone tournament will serve as good preparation for the Nike Manchester United Premier Cup, which takes place at the SAFA Pimville-Klipspruit Development Centre in Soweto from Thursday, June 15 to Sunday, June 18.

We are the defending champions in this competition and are looking forward to winning it. Last year the team was rewarded with an all-expenses paid trip to the global finals in Hong Kong.

This year the finals will be held at Manchester United's base in the United Kingdom.
