'Birds' bow out of Youth Cup

Moroka Swallows beat Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates 2-1 on Friday evening, but that victory was not enough to earn them a place in the quarter-finals of the 2007 SuperSport Under-19 Youth Cup.

The 'Beautiful Birds', who needed to score an avalanche of goals against the 'Buccaneers', tried their best - but it was not enough to stop Pirates from qualifying as Group C runners-up.

"The boys did all they could, but it was not to be," Swallows Head of Development Paulo Habib told the club's official website.

He added: "I'm really proud of my boys.

"They were fantastic throughout the campaign and that augurs well for the future of Moroka Swallows Football Club."

Bevan is staying in the nest! Your views?

Great news - we can continue to build around him!
Wonderful, but there is too much pressure on him.
It doesn't matter, as I was already resigned to losing him...
