Swallows and Leopards draw

Black Leopards came back from two goals down to hold Moroka Swallows to a 2-2 draw in a Castle Premiership match played at Germiston Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The introduction of twinkle-toed Tebogo Mashaba at the restart of the second half proved a masterstroke as he single-handedly destroyed Swallows defence with his mazy runs down the left side of midfield.

Two goals in a space of ten minutes by the winger and a scorcher by Robert Ng'ambi in the second half, gave 'Lidoda Duvha' a perfect start to the New Year.

The draw will surely be met with lot of joy and considering that the Limpopo-based team was without new coach Eddie May and two former strikers Mulondo Sikhwivhilu and Rudzani Ramudzuli who joined Soweto giants Orlando Pirates during the festive period.

Dictating the first half easily as they bombarded the Leopards defence, Swallows looked set to record their fourth win on the trot, but lack concentration cost them badly.

After the taking the lead through Namibian international Hendrico Botes who was unselfishly fed by winger Cecil Orsen in the half hour mark and adding the second via a tap in by Mame Niang in the 65th minutes, the 'Birds' looked liked they had all the beating of Leopards, but 'Lidoda Duvha' clawed their way back into the game.

Before the equaliser, Swallows should have added the third after Chalwe was set free by substitute Tsweu Mokoro who came in for Botes, but put his shot over the bar.

And as referee Ace Ncobo, who has an easy afternoon, blew the final whistle, it was evident of how Swallows ruined a perfect chance to make a strong thrust in the league.
