Preview - Premier United v Swallows
Friday September 15 2006
Moroka Swallows captain Goodman Mazibuko is expected to make his long-awated comeback from injury when the 'Birds' play Benoni Premier United in a Castle Premiership match at Meadowlands Stadium on Sunday (kick-off 3pm).
Mazibuko has fully recovered from an injury that has kept him out of the team since last season and he believes that he is ready to fight for his place in the Swallows starting line-up.
"I have been training with the team for some time and coach Gavin Hunt even gave me a five-minute run during the Silver Stars game. I did not feel any discomfort during and after the match," Mazibuko told the official Swallows website.
He added: "I know it will be difficult to break into the starting eleven because the guys have been doing well without me, but if I am given a run on Sunday, I will make sure that I keep my place in the starting line-up.
"United proved against Kaizer Chiefs that they can stand their ground against the so-called big teams and I believe they will give us a tough time on Sunday. But, we are ready for them."
Mazibuko has urged Swallows supporters to come out in numbers to support the team.
"Soweto is our home and we command a lot of support there. We are counting on this support to pull us through on Sunday," he concluded.
