Zeca Marques is aiming at reclaiming Moroka Swallows' spot among the top teams in the Absa Premiership when the Birds visit Kaizer Chiefs at Soccer City on Tuesday night (kick-off 7.30pm).
Until a few weeks ago, we were leading the pack chasing log leaders Chiefs, until a few unfortunate results derailed the Birds pursuit of them.
Marques stresses however that all is not lost as a winning streak could put our season back on track, while a slip for our opponents could see them vulnerable.
"It's definitely not where I would like to be personally, from a coach's perspective I would like to be much higher on the log," Zeca told morokaswallows.co.za.
"I'm ambitious, the players are ambitious and the club is ambitious, so we are striving and working hard to get our form back and getting up the ladder and be where we deserve to be.
"We slipped up in a few games and lost points where we shouldn't have and that affected our log position. We've got to work hard now to get back to where we should be.
"We are aware that if we have a good run of two or three games in a row, all of a sudden things could be looking rosy again, that's what we are going to fight for.
"We want to compete for the next four to five games and really focus on getting those points back and recovering our position on the log."
He added: "We're hungry for success and we've got that ambition. We know Chiefs are the in-form team, we know that we've lost points so there's a lot to play for tomorrow.
"I think we are up to the challenge. Our players have proven in the past that they are able to rise to the challenge when they have to, so I'm confident that tomorrow we are going to play with everything that we've got because there is so much at stake."
