Birds youth at Cosmos

The Birds Soweto youth teams took the pitch against Jomo Cosmos at the Rand Stadium precinct on Saturday.

Moroka Swallows are holding their own in only their second season in the SAFA Gauteng Development League.

Former Swallows captain and midfield-workhorse Goodman Mazibuko looked after the young Birds for the matches.

The under-15 team set the tone with a 2-1 victory over Cosmos, thereafter the U17 team inflicted more pain on their hosts with a solid 2-0 win.

It was then the turn of the U19 team to leave their mark, but the slippery weather conditions got the better of them on the day and they lost 1-4.

Coach Mazibuko expressed his delight at the boys' performance, emphasising that the aim is not to only get results but to develop future Swallows stars.
