It with sadness that Moroka Swallows announce the news of passing of the Birds’ legend Eddie Guiney.
Guiney was recruited form an amateur team in Kliptown in 1960 and represented Moroka Swallows until 1964.
Fans packed the stadiums to watch the tricky forward's skills on the pitch in the famous maroon and white.
Memories of his ability to do amazing things with the ball in the air still linger on in the Birds' faithful.
He was 72 years old at the time of his passing and leaves behind 11 children.
He will be laid to rest at his home in Annerdale on Saturday, with a short service at 8am after the body arrives.
The service will then move on to church at 9am and he will be taken to his final resting place at 10am.
