The Birds are looking to change their fourth quarter fortunes when they go up against Maritzburg United in a crucial league clash at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday night (kick-off 8.00pm).
Moroka Swallows are going into this clash seeking their first maximum result in the last quarter of the season, after drawing one and losing two.
Head coach Zeca Marques says that it will take a bit more than just the usual to win games at this crucial stage of the campaign.
"The results give us more energy to go out there and know exactly what we are competing against," Marques told morokaswallows.co.za.
"We now know that we are not only playing against the opposition but also playing against external forces and we must be prepared for these things mentally now more than ever.
"We have to be strong, we have to be mentally prepared to compete against all adversities. It's not just the opposition any longer."
Swallows have scored first in all three matches so far in Q4, but somehow have not been able to hold on and secure a victory.
The Birds were forced to accept a 1-1 draw with Bidvest Wits, after Bennett Chenene opened the scoring at the Volkswagen Dobsonville Stadium in their first match of the quarter.
Chenene was the scorer again to put the Birds in the lead in their second match against relegation-threatened Chippa United, but they ended up losing the bruising encounter 1-2 in Cape Town.
The Birds scored first again at the Volkswagen Dobsonville Stadium against Chiefs on Saturday, when Giorgi Nergadze headed home Lerato Chabangu's corner, only to fall to a 1-3 loss in the end.
"It's good to know that we are firing on all four cylinders upfront. We're not surprised that we score first. We are an attack-minded team and our objective is to always to score goals," he added.
"Unfortunately we have not been able to keep our opponents from scoring. We've been working hard on that at training. We will continue to go all out to score but we must now just work on holding onto our leads for the rest of the season.
"Top eight is priority number one now. Every game is planned with the over-riding objective of getting points."
