Match Preview: SuperSport United vs. Moroka Swallows

SuperSport United will be looking to move a few places up the ladder when they host bottom-of-the-log Moroka Swallows in an Absa Premiership encounter at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday.

Kick-off is 8:15pm.

Th teams go into this clash on the back of mixed mid-week results where United were held to a goalless draw by Platinum Stars, while the Dube Birds were sent to the bottom of the log by Chippa United.

In their last match, United failed to score a goal but defender Thabo September says they will be looking to return to winning ways when they host struggling Swallows.

“Games are coming thick and fast at the moment but we will be ready because this is not new for us. Looking at our position on the log, we are not sitting comfortably so we have to collect all three points to cement a place in the top eight. They guys are highly motivated because they understand that there is a lot is at stake,” said September.

He added that they will have to be on high alert as Swallows are fighting for their lives at the foot of the table and face the dreaded relegation chop.

“They are a dangerous opposition because of the position that they find themselves in at the moment. We cannot afford to taking anything for granted because if we do that we could be punished and put out ambitions of finishing in the top eight in danger,” he said.

On the other hand, Swallows defender Shere Lekgothoane admitted that they are in a precarious situation but they will fight to the bitter end to avoid relegation.

The Dube Birds have five matches left in the season where only positive results in the run in may see them avoid the chop to the National First Division (NFD).

“Despite the situation that we are facing at the moment, the spirit in the camp is good and we are fully aware of the challenges that we face in the remaining five matches. We are determined to fight and try to get as many points that could get us out of the situation that we find ourselves in,” he said.

Recently, Swallows replaced Fani Madida with Craig Rosslee and Lekgothoane believes that the new coach is the right man for the job and has got what it takes to help the team survive relegation.

“He is a good coach. He has brought changes to our side and I believe he has what it takes to get us out of the trouble that we find ourselves in,” he said.
