Brookstone - 'We need your support'

Platinum Stars CEO Larry Brookstone has urged South Africans to rally behind his team when the 'Tycoons' host Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the MTN CAF Champions League on the weekend of April 25-27.

This comes after Stars were pitted against the Egyptian club in the third round of the competition.

"That game will be South Africa versus Egypt and I want to plead with all football-loving fans of our country to rally behind Platinum Stars as we go on further with our campaign, more so when we host Al Ahly," Brookstone told the official Stars website.

He added: "People from the mines, surrounding communities in Rustenburg and school children are asked to come in numbers and show the South African colours."

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns will meet Al Hilal of Sudan in the next round of the Champions League.

The 'Brazilians' beat Curepipie 1-0 in the second leg of their second-round clash on Sunday in Mauritius courtesy of a goal from veteran striker Peter Ndlovu. Last season's beaten semi-finalists Al Hilal played to a 1-1 draw with Zambian side Zesco United to advance.
