Celtic to battle Leopards

Bloemfontein Celtic and Black Leopards are in different degrees of trouble as far as the prospect of relegation from the Absa Premiership is concerned, but both will be desperate for the three points on offer when they meet at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium on Sunday afternoon (kickoff 3pm).

The hosts Celtic have lost three games on the trot in the Premiership and they are in very real danger of becoming embroiled in a three way fight with Thanda Royal Zulu and Jomo Cosmos over the bottom three places in the league.

The loser will be forced to fend off three First Division clubs in the promotion/relegation playoffs and as yet AmaZulu are the only top flight team who have managed to successfully negotiate that difficulty.

In fact Celtic's troubles stretch back much further than their last three PSL games. After a promising start to the season that saw them win four of their first five league matches, 'Phunya Sele Sele' have won just a further three times in 19 attempts.

Of course the club hasn't exactly dealt with the situation very well, with the Khabo Zondo farce (the coach was fired, rehired and then relieved of his duties again in the space of a month) signalling the nadir of Celtic's folly.

However, Leopards have had it even worse. They have failed to win in their last 13 Premiership matches and bid farewell to coaches Boebie Solomons and Austin Eguavoen in the process. They are the odds-on favourites to be relegated from the top flight, despite the promise shown in their cup run that has seen them progress to the quarterfinal.

But while Jomo Cosmos above them still fail to win matches despite their newfound defensive solidity, 'Lidoda Duvha' still have a chance of hauling themselves out of immediate danger. Celtic are low on confidence and very much there for the taking ? this match is simply a must win for Leopards if they are serious about maintaining their top flight status.
