'Students' given a free lesson
Cosmos offered a free football lesson when they gave BidVest Wits a 4-0 hiding in a Castle Premiership match played at BidVest Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Cosmos played very well without - their leading striker and the league's leading goal-scorer - Chris Katongo and deserved the win.
They attacked as early as the seventh minute when Anthony Laffor located Calvin Kadi with a fine pass but Kadi's shot narrowly missed the target.
In the 24th minute Wits striker Marcos Paulo de Jesus could have scored but he fumbled Essau Mtsweni's pass with Cosmos goalkeeper Abiasi Shininganyawe out of position.
Cosmos defender Thapelo Tshilo missed a sitter in the 41st minute, when he ballooned his shot with Wits goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs lying down injured.
The Wits 'keeper lost the ball to Kadi in the 45th minute and he passed it to Laffor but the Liberian striker failed to hit the empty net and the scores were level 0-0 at half-time.
In the 61st minute Kadi received a great pass from Laffor, the striker turned one defender and beat Josephs with a great shot to put 'Ezenkosi' 1-0 up.
Abraham Raselemane could have equalised for the 'Clever Boys' but he missed a sitter, after he headed Noah Chivuta's cross over the bar in the 65th minute .
In the 68th minute, Kadi could only watch with disbelief when his header rebounded off the cross-bar, with Wits 'keeper Josephs well-beaten.
A frustrated Raselemane got his marching orders in the 80th minute, for pulling Dikgang Mabalane denying the Cosmos midfielder a goal-scoring chance.
Csomos substitute Alois Bunjira doubled the lead to 2-0, when he beat Josephs with a low shot after a pass from Laffor.
Further punishment followed in the 88th minute when Laffor increased Cosmos' lead to 3-0 beating Josephs with a well-placed shot.
A minute later 'Ezenkosi' were 4-0 up as Mabalane rounded the Wits goalie and scored, before putting the last nail in the Wits coffin.
