'Micho' jumps 'Buccanneers' ship

Orlando Pirates Public Relations and Communications Officer Mickey Modisane has confirmed that the club's Technical Director Bibey Mutombo will temporarily assume the coaching reins whilst the club looks for a replacement for ex-coach Milutin Sredojevic.

'Micho', as the Yugoslavian is known in South African football, parted ways with 'Bucs' on Tuesday afternoon.

A statement on the club's website confirmed Sredojevic's departure: "The Management of Orlando Pirates Football Club met with the Head Coach, together with his agent, to discuss the letter submitted by the Head Coach to the club.

"After lengthy discussions, it was mutually agreed to terminate the relationship between the club and the Head Coach. I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Mr Sredojevic for his contribution to the Club and the team. I would further like to wish him well in his future endeavours."

Modisane also confirmed that former Black leopards coach Mutombo would take over the coaching duties in the meantime.

"Bibey Mutombo will be in charge whilst the Chairman and the Board search for a replacement," Modisane told the official Premier Soccer League website.
