FNB Stadium construction to begin


Johannesburg executive mayor Amos Masondo has officially handed Soccer City (FNB Stadium) to contractors Grinaker-LTA to commence with construction work.

The Sowetan reports that on handing over the drawing of the structure to the construction company?s Executive Director, Schalk Ackerman, Masondo said: "Johannesburg is ready and prepared to take on the challenge of hosting all relevant events and matches."

He added: "Our preparations are on track, on time and within budget.

"We are willing and we are able to host the showpiece events of the world?s greatest sporting spectacle."
