Preview - Ajax CT v Wits

Ajax Cape Town are determined to continue with their winning Castle Premiership form - but they face an equally capable side in BidVest Wits at Athlone Stadium on Saturday evening (kick-off 8pm).

Only five points separate the top nine clubs in the Castle Premiership standings, Wits are currently lying in position three and Ajax are in position eight with a mere two points separating the two teams.

The youthful Ajax side is currently playing a good brand of football under the guidance head coach Muhsin Ertugral and the Cape-based side is improving with every game - their latest league victory being a 2-0 away win over Golden Arrows on Wednesday afternoon.

Ertugral shared the secret behind the 'Urban Warriors' success with the official Ajax website this week.

"While we lack depth compared to the bigger clubs, we will make use of the rotation system to ensure that we do not over-extend our players," the Ajax mentor said.

While Wits coach Boebie Solomons's job is somewhat more challenging, since the 'Clever Boys' lost 0-4 to Jomo Cosmos in their midweek league encounter, but the Cape-born mentor remains upbeat.

"We took a beating midweek - but it's all part of game, if we want to make a meaningful contribution to football, we will have to get back to winning ways," Solomons told the official PSL website.

"We are, however, happy with the way things have panned out this season, and I'm looking forward to being in the Cape again."

Ajax PRO 'Shooz' Mekuto, meanwhile, took the opportunity to welcome Wits' Cape-born personnel, which includes former 'Urban Warriors' goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs.

"We extend a huge welcome to the Cape Town born players in the Wits side, especially Moeneeb Josephs who served Ajax with distinction," he said.

"However, Wits will need to guard themselves for an onslaught as our players are keen to collect all three points on offer."
