Ajax Cape Town host a high-riding Jomo Cosmos side in what should be an entertaining Castle Premiership match at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday evening (kick-off 8pm).
Cosmos are in buoyant mood after they defeated Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday afternoon to move up to fourth place in the Premiership standings.
Cosmos have been firing on all cylinders up-front since the departure of Christopher Katongo, but one cannot overlook the work done by Thapelo Tshilo in defence.
But the brave defender picked up his third booking against 'Amakhosi' on Sunday, and Cosmos' assistant coach Collen Tlemo confirmed to the official PSL website, that the defender would not be travelling with the team to Cape Town.
"Thapelo is not the only player who has stepped up since Christopher's [Katongo] departure," explained Tlemo. "I think Calvin [Kadi] has been outstanding as-well.
"All our players are motivated, we have had a good run so far this year, and we're happy to be fourth in the league standings.
"But we will not be complacent, this will not stop us from improving and continue winning."
Ajax have, themselves, been in fine form this year.
The side from the Cape have won three of their past four league matches in 2007, whilst they also beat their 'Mother Club', Ajax Amsterdam, in the Ajax Cup.
The Cape-based side's PRO, Thabiso 'Shooz' Mekuto, told the official PSL website that playing at home was a huge fillip for them, hence their fine record as hosts. (They have lost just one home match this season.)
"We need to keep the Cape fans in good spirit, they have been great and our results reflect that," the Ajax PRO said.
"It's thanks to them that we have such a solid record at home."
