Goodman - 'Thanks for all the support'
Friday March 24 2006
Moroka Swallows captain Goodman Mazibuko, writing his column on the official Swallows website, has expressed his gratitude to the 'Beautiful Birds' family for all the support he has received since sustaining a serious injury during a recent league match against Kaizer Chiefs.
I have been receiving a lot of messages from the fans, management and the technical staff and I am really grateful for that.
The team paid me a visit immediately after the match against Chiefs and they also kept coming individually to find out about my progress since Saturday.
I am happy that they won the match against SuperSport on Wednesday and I know that current captain Maimane (Phiri) is very capable of handling the reins in my absence.
I am now recuperating at home, with the support of my family and friends, but am missing the action on the field and training ground very much.
The Swallows medical team and the hospital doctors have told me that I might not make it back to full fitness before the end of the season, but I'll be consulting with the doctors again on Monday for a full assessment.
For the moment though I'd like to say to all 'Amaswaiswai' that the most important thing is for the team to keep winning, as there is a lot at stake seeing that the season is coming to and end soon.
I'd like to wish the guys good luck in their ABSA Cup last 16 match against Santos on Sunday. I know that the Cape-based side does not have a very good record as travellers and we should exploit this in order to advance to the next round of the competition.
Till the next time!
