Lefa - 'Injuries cost us the league'

Moroka Swallows midfielder Lefa Tsutsulupa believes that injuries have cost them a fair tilt at the 2005/06 Castle Premiership title.

"If we had started the season the way we are performing now, I think we would have been fighting for the league championship now," Tsutsulupa told Soccer Laduma.

He added: "The injuries really dealt us a blow and I just hope we will avoid them next season, so that we can challenge for the league."

The Birds have conceded 31 goals so far this season, but Tsutsulupa does not blame the defenders for this.

"It was not really the defenders' fault, because they were changed almost every game due to injuries, so it was beyond their control," he explained.

He concluded: "If we start the new season well, then we will definitely be amongst the top teams in the Premier Soccer League next season.
