Pirates' title hopes dashed

Orlando Pirates' Castle Premiership title hopes were dashed when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Bush Bucks at the ABSA Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Pirates came close to opening their account as early as the 11th minute when Tyren Arendse unleashed a furious shot at the Bucks goal, but his effort was thwarted by Bucks goalkeeper Tampungu Dikete.
Bucks launched a string of attacks into the 'Bucs' danger area, but could not find that all-important goal.
'Imbabala' midfielder Fischer Kondowe was then unlucky to see his effort denied by the cross-bar in the 27th minute.
The home side were at that stage enjoying a much greater share of the ball possession and converted this advantage into a goal when the deadly James Chamanga scored with a diving header in the 39th minute, but Pirates pulled one back in the second half when Isaac Chansa scored from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute.
But the visitors' introduction of substitute Jabu 'Pule' Mahlangu in the second half paid dividends, as the talented midfielder tormented Bucks with his darting runs down the right flank.
The 'Sea Robbers' almost increased their tally in the 67th minute, but Lucky Lekgwathi's powerful drive was brilliantly parried away by Dikete.
Pirates striker Collin Chabalala - a late signing from Bloemfontein Celtic - nearly wrote his name in the hearts of the watching 'Buccaneers' fans when he unleashed a powerful header, but his effort was blocked by Dikete.
