BidVest Wits to celebrate success
Thursday May 04 2006
There will be celebratory scenes when recently-promoted BidVest Wits take on 11th-placed Pretoria University in their final match of the season on Saturday, May 6.
BidVest Wits have been ruthless in their quest to conquer the Mvela Golden League.
The 85-year-old team did not take the drop into the Mvela Golden League lightly - proven by the fact that they have won 22 out of a possible 29 games thus far, this season, and currently stand 12 points clear of nearest rivals, City Pillars.
It is, according to a statement from the club, important that everyone feels welcome to attend the game.
"It is key that we get out there and show our support to the Wits team. It is going to be a grand day with entertainment for all, and I encourage families to attend," said BidVest Executive Director, Alan Salomon.
He dangled an exciting carrot for the supporters, too, and he added: "The first 750 entrants will each receive a replica blue and gold BidVest Wits jersey."
It is not only the players and the fans who are looking forward to the match - head coach Bobbie Solomons is equally ecstatic about the fixture between the two teams, both of whom share a common link with Gauteng-based tertiary education institutions.
Said Solomons: "Saturday is going to be a celebration for all!
"Look out PSL - this team is prepared mentally, physically and emotionally."
