E Cape officials unite behind Bucks

Eastern Cape MEC for Sport Noxolo Abrahams-Ntantiso has appealed to people of the province not to turn their backs on Bush Bucks. This comes after the team narrowly survived the automatic relegation after failing to beat Santos on Sunday.

"They are our team and we need to throw our weight behind them instead of criticising them," Abrahams-Ntantiso told the Dispatch Online.

Bucks' Chief Operations Officer, Mxolisi Sbam, is still optimistic that his team will continue to ply their trade in the elite league next season.

"It is not all over yet. There is still hope," he said.

Sbam, however, admitted that he was worried about the situation.

Meanwhile, Bubele Mfenyana, the head of sport in the Eastern Cape, was also optimistic about Bucks' Premiership survival.

"Whether they are relegated or not, we will continue supporting them," said Mfenyana.
