The CEO's Pre-Season Message

In his annual pre-season column, Moroka Swallows Cheif Exective Leon Prins speaks to the 'Beautiful Birds' supporters about the achievements of the 2005/06 season, the current plans to boost the squad and the way forward.

THE FUTURE IS NOW!

Firstly I would like to thank all our fans for their loyal support last season, it was a difficult season with a number of injuries to key players. There were however a few successes most notably Mame Niang Golden Boot award, the team receiving the PSL 'Well Balanced Team' award and of course the securing of a long term sponsorship deal with Volkswagen South Africa.

This sponsorship is allowing us to be more competitive both on and off the field, and I am expecting a number of new management and marketing initiatives to improve our service to you the Moroka Swallows supporter.

In an effort to strengthen our team and to challenge for honours next season, we are busy negotiating with various players. I cannot reveal the names of these players at this stage as this might hamper our chances of securing their services!

The current transfer market in South Africa is very competitive and we are working around the clock to get the right X factor players, who will not only entertain but bring us success on the field.

Once we secure the services of a player with a final signature you can expect an exclusive announcement on the clubs website.

Coach Gavin Hunt has just got back from Zimbabwe where he was searching for talented players for the team, we will be sending him to other African countries to try and find the club the best possible players.

We will also trial a number of hopeful youngsters during pre season to get the right mix of experience and youth. Management realises the need to ensure the team improves such things as our defensive record and mobility.

With the help of Volkswagen we are beginning the goal of closing the gap on our traditional rivals, thus our objectives can not be less than winning trophies and finishing in the top three! Of course we need your help as supporters to achieve this goal, so we encourage everyone to help keep the Beautiful Birds flying higher and higher!
