Prins - 'Rest in Peace, Bra Pine'
Monday June 19 2006
Moroka Swallows CEO Leon Prins has joined the South African soccer fraternity in mourning the death of former 'Birds' boss David 'Bra Pine' Chabeli.
Chabeli, the former Swallows Chairman, passed away on Thursday night at Parklane clinic, after being involved in a car accident.
Prins visited Chabeli's family in Winchester Hills in Johannesburg on Friday to pay his respects.
"On behalf of the management, the technical staff, the players and everyone at Swallows, I would like to send my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late Chabeli," Prins told the official Swallows website.
He added: "His death has come at a time when his dream of seeing Swallows as one of the best teams in the country, was slowly turning into reality.
"Chabeli laid a strong foundation for the team and we will always admire him for that and for his undying support for the team.
"May his soul rest in peace."
Meanwhile, Prins said the arrangements for Chabeli's funeral were currently underway. The details will be announced on morokaswallows.co.za in due course.
