Silver Stars scoop 'Simba'

PSL Castle Premiership side Silver Stars have ended weeks of speculation surrounding Hareaipha Marumo and confirmeded that they have secured his signature.

The 28 year-old 'Simba' has signed a one year contract with an option for another year, and was allocated jersey number 14 after landing at the North West Province-based team.

'Simba' grabbed major headlines when he was signed by Italian soccer giants, Inter Milan a number of seasons ago, where he competed for a starting berth with crack Brazilian striker and three time FIFA World Player of the Year (1996, 1997, 2002) Ronaldo.

He was then loaned out to the Bulgarian team Septemphry, where he did very well.

Simba has also had spells with local PSL teams Sundowns and Moroka Swallows.

The 1.67 meters right-footed striker is married to Phiwe and is looking to add more firepower to the Stars attack.

"I am happy to be part of Silver Stars and I hope to do well for the team. My new teammates are very welcoming and extremely hard working."

"Owen da Gama is a great coach, in fact the best coach" Marumo told

Da Gama said that he was "elated" at acquiring the services of a "very professional" player. "He seems to have that X factor, yes he is special".

Silver Stars have also signed Tshweu Mokhoere, a midfielder from the Vodacom team BK Callies.

New Botswana recruit, Phenyo "Mazimbia" Mongala has been loaned out to the University of Pretoria.
