Stars walk over Amazulu

Silver Stars secured a 2-0 victory over Amazulu in a Castle Premiership match at the Royal Bafokeng stadium on Wednesday night.

Stars intentions were clear when they invaded Amazulu with instant attacks from Haraipha Marumo and Oupa Hadebe from the first whistle.

Marumo in a brilliant piece of skill took a long range shot into the back of the net in the sixth minute, ,giving Tshepo Motsoaneng no chance at all.

Amazulu's Mpho Maleka and John Moshoeu combined well with impressive Siphesihle Ngobese but could not unlock Stars' defence.

Marumo almost doubled the lead when in another beautiful move, controlled the ball in the middle of the park and ran through into the box, but his execution was easily dealt with by Motsoaneng.

Amazulu came back strong in the second stanza and had several attempts at goals.

It was however, pretty much against run off play that Stars' Mkhalipha's 66th minute well taken cross into the box missed Dale Studzunski and fell onto Zamuxolo Ngalo, who clinically slotted home to double the score.

Amazulu tried hard to penetrate Stars defence but the 'Lions of the North' could not succumb to the Durban side. Shortly afterwards, Amazulu were reduced to ten-man when Tshimanga Mutamba was red-carded after he had used vulgar language against the assistant referee.

Shoes Moshoeu ran off beating the off-side, connecting with Maleka's clever breakthrough pass but his attempt was saved by Wayne Sandilands.

Marumo could have got a brace had he connected with the cross from Mkhalipha in the 86th minute, but he missed the ball.

The Lions of the match walked way with maximum points in Rustenburg.
